Many of the crafts we practice to this day are ancient in their roots, having existed for hundreds or thousands of years.

In this sense they’ve been ever-popular, but with the increased Internet presence across the world, the craft scene saw an explosion, with a sudden interest from far and wide, young and old, and beginners and experienced crafters alike.

The best part is that we can all share our innovative ideas, and the web is rife with tutorials and instructions! We’ve just discovered a new tutorial-based website, which is great because you can learn in your own time and at your own pace from people with great expertise.

What particularly caught our eye is this great felting workshop, put on by Sue (author of Felted Friends) and Lorna, who is an illustrator renowned for her bright designs and cheeky characters.

The class covers the basics of needle felting and provides a wide knowledge of how you can use the material to create different shapes and patterns. By the end of the class you’ll be able to create your own little character, learning how to create the arms and legs so that it’s able to sit up and take place of pride in your home.

With no sewing, painting or crochet involved, it’s a great chance to try a new craft if you haven’t tried it yet!¬†As Sue’s mantra goes, “I may not have done it yet but I am willing to try”. Amen to that!
